In 2020, a new law came into the discussion, which came into force in December 2021: the Telecommunications Telemedia Data Protection Act (TTDSG) bundles all data protection-relevant laws from the Telemedia Act and the Telecommunications Act, takes up the BGH ruling and at the same time transposes the e-Privacy Directive (2002/58/EC) into national law. In terms of cookies, the first section of paragraph § 25 "Protection of privacy in terminal equipment" is of particular interest:
